Are pro bass anglers athletes?
Definitely. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines an athlete as “a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports or games requiring physical strength, agility or stamina.” Of those three qualities, strength is the least essential in bass fishing. Much of the act of fishing itself, with rod and reel, involves proper form. So, similar to a golf swing, strength isn’t important. But agility, or hand-eye coordination, is.
