Are private elephant ranches or sanctuaries good places for elephants?
We cannot answer that question. AZA has an accreditation process for zoos and aquariums, as well as a certification process for animal care facilities that are not open to the public, such as wildlife research organizations and nature centers. Neither of the two private elephant ranches in the U.S. however, have undergone the AZA-accreditation or certification processes.
