Are primary colors red, blue, and yellow or magenta, cyan, and yellow?
Yes, they are BOTH the sets of primary colors in two different media. Red, blue and yellow are the primaries for mixing paint, while cyan, magenta and yellow, (along with black) are the primary colors for print media. Another set of commonly misundertood primary colors are the red, green and blue that is used in color monitors and televsion sets. Odd, but, in the RGB gamut, one gets yellow by mixing red and green. So, it depends on which medium is used to determine the primary colors. These different gamuts work different ways. What is primary in one medium, is not in another.
