Are potential and kinetic the only 2 types of energy?
Potential and kinetic energy are the two classifications of all forms of energy. You probably have asked this question because there are types of energy like heat energy, chemical energy. These are all sub-classified under the broader headings of either kinetic or potential energy. Heat is kinetic energy, chemical energy is potential energy. In order to classify any type of energy as kinetic or potential, ask yourself whether something is moving, even if the motion is that of atoms or electrons. Then it is kinetic. It is potential if there is the ability to output energy, but the output is not currently occurring.
