Are pool covers safer than fences?
On One Hand: Fences Prevent Access to a PoolCpsc.gov states that about 300 children under the age of five drown every year in swimming pools, and thousands come close to death. In many states, laws are in effect for homes that have a pool to also have a fence, which decreases these occurrences. Cspc.gov also reports that children who had no reason to be on the pool owner’s property make up 2 percent of all pool related deaths, while children who were last seen in the yard or in the house—not in or by the pool– make up 65 percent of pool related deaths. On the Other: Covers Only Protect Against the ElementsAccording to Swimming-pool-liners.net, the purpose of solar and weather covers is to protect the swimming pool against the elements. The solar cover protects the pool liner against UV Rays. The weather cover blocks foreign objects or debris from entering the pool. Pool covers offer no protection against drowning, nor can the cover carry the weight of someone who walks on top of it.B
