Are placements in emergency shelters, group homes and independent living programs exempt from WVMI s review process?

Under the agreement between localities and DMAS for WVMI review, WVMI reviews placements of CSA children in facilities licensed under 2.1-745 et seq. of the Code of Virginia and subject to the “Core Standards for Interdepartmental Licensure and Certification of Residential Facilities for Children.” Emergency shelters, group homes and independent living programs meeting these criteria are subject to WVMI review. However, localities should only refer children who are expected to remain in any facility for more than 14 calendar days.
