Are PiLA fellowships paid positions?
Yes. However, we expect all three stakeholders in the process (the fellow, the partner organization, and PiLA) to have a stake in the cost of the fellowship. Therefore, fellows are responsible for their airfare and health insurance. For each country, a monthly stipend is determined to cover housing, food, and local transportation, which is paid to the fellow through contributions from the partner organization and PiLA. PiLA fellowships are not money-making ventures, and fellows should expect to live modestly within the local culture.
