Are pickles?
You could, I suppose. The sodium is high – one cup of pickles contains 1/3 to 1/2 (depending on your gender, size, health, etc) of your day’s sodium. However, they also give you 1/20th of your day’s calcium and vitamin A, 2 grams of fibre, and 1 gram of protein. You also get a little vitamin c and iron from them. Those are pretty high numbers for the calories in them – 17 calories/cup, and they are fat free. They lose some nutrients, though, like vitamin K. They’re vegetables, so you can count them as a serving, but try to stick with fresh veg without the added salt.
