Are phalaenopsis orchids hard to grow?
No. Like many other houseplants, phalaenopsis need water, fertilizer, light and air. Phalaenopsis adapt well to the environment of the average home, requiring similar cultural need as African Violet. If you are comfortable growing plants in general, you will not find phalaenopsis any more challenging on keeping other houseplants. Phalaenopsis are the easiest and most rewarding orchids to grow. An American Orchid Society survey showed that Phalaenopsis have become America’s favorite orchid. Phalaenopsis adapt well to the indoor environment. From the time that the first flower bud opens, the sprays will remain in bloom for 2 to 3 months – longer if grown in a humid greenhouse environment.
