Are PFI schools responsible for compliance or would that fall to the caterer?
The legal responsibility for compliance actually rests with the school governors. The school governors cannot handover this legal responsibility to somebody else. The governors need to be satisfied that the caterer engaged under the PFI contract is providing a compliant menu and the appropriate evidence. Until the governors themselves are satisfied, then they could continue to make demands of the catering provider to comply with the school food regulations.
