Are pets allowed in Public Housing?

Yes, one common household pet, except fish, will be permitted. A common household pet means a domesticated animal, such as a cat, dog, fish or bird that are traditionally kept in the home for pleasure rather than commercial purposes. A hamster, gerbil or turtle is also permitted. The size of the aquarium for fish or a turtle may not exceed 10 gallons. Animals that are considered exotic, like ferrets, are not permitted. All resident dog or cat owners are responsible for a $150 non-refundable pet sanitation fee and a refundable $100 pet deposit. This is a separate deposit in addition to your security deposit. All sites accept service and companion animals. All resident pet owners (except Kingston Arms and Persons with Disabilities) are required to pay a nonrefundable pet fee of $10 a month. The feeding or harboring of any stray animal is prohibited at, in or upon any portion of any public housing facility of the City of Chandler.
