Yes, and I think mainly because there are a great number of immigrants who have come to the US illegally, more than the number of immigrants who came legally in the early 1900s. That’s NOT to say that ALL Latin American immigrants have come to the US illegally by any means, but the illegal aspect may have a lot to do with the angst that some people feel towards them.
