Are people with aspergers syndrome/High functioning autism and Low functioning autism gifted and cursed?
Many people with Asperger’s syndrome/autism are gifted at something, but far from all of them are geniuses at something. It is a stereotype that is only true for some of them. Some of them think of their Asperger’s/autism as a gift, some think of it as a curse, and some think of it as a bit of both. I personally think of my Asperger’s as both a gift and a curse. I am one of those who has great skills at certain things and that can be really useful and fun and helps compensate for my weaknesses. My poor social skills make social interactions difficult though and cause me to be somewhat socially isolated. I think the reason why some of us can get really good at some things has to do with our brains and the way we think. We are differently wired than other people and we think differently. We sometimes see solutions that others can’t see and think in a different systematic way than other people.
