Are People Ready To Ratify Constitutional Amendments?
As someone who wants to reform our existing system of government and do it without violence I like the idea of a constitutional amendments. The ratification process forces a national debate on values and has the potential to engage some folks who are otherwise apathetic and dis-interested. Here are some possible Amendments to the Constitution that I like. I wonder if there is enough impetus yet for any or all to be ratified: 1) Sound Money. Because a depreciating currency favors government at the expense of individuals, a “fiat” currency is prohibited. 2) Balanced Budget. Because it is immoral for people to burden future generations in order to enjoy programs and services they themselves cannot pay for, the federal government shall be prohibited from borrowing money and shall fund its requirements exclusively through tax revenue. 3) General Welfare and Interstate Commerce. Because the general welfare and interstate commerce clauses of the this constitution have been expanded over time
