Are people moaning to much about fortnightly bin collections?
Our local council issued three bins. The grey bin is collected fortnightly on its own and contains rubbish that would ordinarily go to land fill or have the least amount of recycling applied to it. The blue and brown bins are for recycling and compostable waste respectively. They are collected fortnightly also – alternate weeks to the grey bin. I’m happy to say that I hardly fill the grey bin but I tend to fill up the blue bin more although I am careful to buy products with less packaging where possible. And all my garden waste disappears as well… It’s all about learning to live differently. It’s time for change and it’s better to get into the habit now rather than wait for the government to force the issue and get caught with the wrong rubbish and face a big fine. If more stuff was recycled, the councils would not have to fill as many land fill areas, Brussels would not be handing out huge fines for non-compliance (Back off Brussels!) and the council tax won’t shoot up to deal with
