Are people in Spain familiar with the Judeo Spanish language also known as Ladino?

Not in general. I think most people know what it is, but I’d bet most people, given a little patience would understand it, but as I’ve seen it written with latin letters, I have a hard time understanding it. I’d have to sit down and see it written in proper letters (hebew alephbet) , and see if I get it that way. I’m guessing Jewish people, and especially Sephardim would have more familiarity with the language than most Spaniards. I have a friend whose son lives in Buenos Aires, and is studying Ladino.
