Are people in a wedding party supposed to buy gifts for the bride and groom?

It’s not set in stone… All but two in my wedding party bought us gifts. People in the wedding party put a lot of time into being in the wedding and also a lot of money into paying for their outfits, shoes, etc. The two who did not buy us presents were in college and obviously we just appreciated that they put up the money to buy the clothes involved. The others that put forth the money were out of college with good paying jobs so they were able to buy us gifts. Hope this helps!
