Are people forgetting the true meaning of Christmas?

Yes, I believe many folks are allowing secularism to take over the true meaning of Christmas. The above is proof of that. Christmas has but one true meaning, that is the birth of Jesus Christ, which is Biblical Truth and in no way legendary. The birth of Christ was foretold many years before it actually happened as is evidenced in Holy Scripture. The word Christmas itself has the meaning of a Festival for Christ. There are many who want to diminish or discount the true meaning by doing things their way, and there will be an eternal price to pay for this kind of thinking. Christmas is a wonderful time of year and one we should all enjoy with thoughts of giving, loving, and sharing with a bit of the passion Christ shared as he climbed onto that old rugged cross for you and for me.

I believe they are. It shouldn’t be about what you get or what you get other people and a lot of people are forgetting that. Happy Holidays!

I think they are. I don’t judge anyone, but is important to know that: The real meaning of Christmas is that Jesus is born. That’s the whole point of it. So, you could say that is a Christian celebration (Christmas and holy week are the main events). I believe that in most of the USA Christmas is focused in Santa Claus, sleigh rides, snow, and most of all: presents. All the movies, music and different themes are focused in this area. I guess this way even non Christians can have a party and “buy” presents, so its good for business to set aside the religious aspect of it, and concentrate on Santa Claus, toy making elves, snow, Christmas trees, etc. Mexico, since it was conquered by Spaniards, its a mainly Christian or catholic country, so we are focused on the religious and spiritual meaning of Christmas. In fact, we can’t start celebrating if we don’t go to mass first. One of the first things you must have is the Nativity representation set. You can go without a Christmas tree, but you

i think every generation thinks their Christmas time as kids was more generous in human warmth and in one sense that’s true, because i think as we progress in time we do leave behind a certain innocence and human value, but the traditional warmth will always be their for the ones we truly love, i think we may not extend it to all.

Yes, but i feel differently than most about this. I don’t think commercialization of Christmas is the problem. In fact I think the anti-commercialization of Christmas contributes to the fact that fewer people are celebrating the Holiday. Why can’t we let people shop for others, and buy lights and tacky decorations for Jesus birthday? Even if they aren’t thinking about Jesus, Christmas makes more people think about giving and being kind than any other holiday, and personally, I don’t think Jesus thinks that’s a bad thing (not that I would ever assume to talk for the man, but just from what he’s said in the past…) I think Santa is a great symbol of giving and kindness. So why should we try to push him out of the picture at the risk of people forgetting Santa, while not thinking any more about Jesus. We need to stand up for the true meaning of Christmas without putting down the other possative things about the holidays.
