Are pellets important to feed my guinea pig?
Yes, pellets are extremely important to feed to your guinea pig. Pellets are usually fortified with lots of the essential vitamins and minerals guinea pigs need to be healthy. If you plan on cutting pellets out of your guinea pigs diet you’ll probably need to make sure they have a salt block and buy some vitamin drops to put in their water. A previous post mentioned that pellets are fattening and that is true, so make sure that you limit your guinea pigs food. Giving your guinea pig unlimited pellets during the day will ensure that they over eat. I also recommend that you buy only pellets, not the kind that comes with extra stuff like seeds, banana chips, and carrots. All of that extra filler isn’t all that good for them and they’ll only want to eat that stuff and not their pellets which are actually nutritious and good for them.
