Are Pearly Penile Papules a Type of STD?
Many men become quite alarmed when they find tiny pus filled bumps on their penis. They worry they may have developed an STD. However, there is a very common condition called “pearly penile papules” which involves tiny bumps that are completely harmless from the medical perspective. For emphasis, these bumps are NOT an STD. In fact, some teenage boys who have never had sex develop pearly penile papules. Of course, you should check with your doctor if you are not entirely sure what you have but you don’t need to be alarmed if you find bumps on your penis. Most of the time, pearly penile papules are arranged in symmetrical rows, often around the head of the penis. They are small but usually quite noticeable. They can become larger over night if they fill with pus. While these papules may be completely harmless from the medical perspective, they are NOT totally harmless to your sex life.
