Are patients with hyperlipidemia more likely to take one combination drug than two individual drugs?

Perhaps not – only a single study is available for Advicor (a combination drug of lovastatin and niacin) which indicated that patients were not more likely to take Advicor than one or both of the component drugs either of the component drugs. There was no evidence available for Vytorin (simvastatin and ezetimibe). If combination drugs did increase medication adherence, it remains unclear whether this translates into an improvement in long-term health outcomes.
