Are patients paid for participating in randomised clinical trials?
Patients are not paid to participate in randomised clinical trials. Early stage clinical trials which test new drugs may use ‘patient volunteers’ who receive some payment but this is a different situation from randomised clinical trials. Usually trials do reimburse out of pocket travel expenses incurred by patients participating.
