Are pasta and other high-carbohydrate foods fattening?
Pasta contains almost no fat or sodium – its primary ingredients are flour and water. Pasta alone is not fattening. However, if you eat too much of any one food and take in more calories than you need, you can gain weight. When combined with vegetables, fruits, lean meats, or low-fat cheeses, pasta eaten in moderate portions, can easily fit into a healthy eating plan. Remember, portion control coupled with an increase in physical activity, are key elements in any weight management program.
