Are Papillons Dogs A Good Friendly Breed?
I have a papillon and he is very loving and happy. He gets along fine with my bichon frise and my mini dachshund. He also enjoys the larger dogs at the dog park. They tend to think they are super dogs and underestimate their size. He is way tougher than he looks. Papillons do well in agility once they are old enough. They are very energetic and need lots of activities to keep stimulated. Edward can easily go on a 5 mile walk with me and STILL have energy to run around the house and play games. They are extremely hard to house train. Even with steady obedience classes, it took Edward over a year to become 100% ok. They also can become protective of their owners. They can become very vocal and want to alert you to EVERY noise they hear inside and outside. If you’re looking for a watch dog it’s perfect. If not, it gets old fast. They need daily brushing, but can get used to that easily. I love my pap, but they aren’t for everyone. It all depends on the dog in the end.
