Are paired chromosome exactly similar?where are allelies of same gene located?

The 2 members of a chromosome pair – one having come from your mother and the other from your father – are similar. But “exactly similar” doesn’t have much meaning. It sounds a lot like “identical”. What is similar about them is that they carry genes for the same traits. The genes for eye color or hair color, or whatever. And those genes are located at the same spot on each chromosome of the pair. But since there are usually different versions of many genes (alleles), the eye color allele on one chromosome 5 may be different from the eye color allele on the other chromosome 5. And since there may be 500 or more genes on each chromosome, the maternal and paternal chromosomes are never going to be identical. But they are similar in that way. So the alleles for any particular gene are located at the same spot along the length of each member of a pair. In fact, these alleles are what are attracted to each other and cause the pairing up of chromosomes at the beginning of meiosis – to make e
