Are P-90s in a 5120 Sacrilege?

0

I’m starting to second guess myself relative to my plan to install TV Jones Classic PUPs in my 5120. I have a ’66 Guild Slim Jim with a P-90 that sounds wonderfull and I’m starting to think: well heck the tonal quality of a P90 in the Gretsch would be pretty darn nice. TV Jones makes the HiLo tron which (I think) is a single coil as a P90 is, however the only PUP out there of the myriad of the single coils available, that sounds like a P90 is a P90. Does anyone here have a 5120 or similar model with P90’s installed? Are there any suppliers that make a P-90 that will drop into the existing PUP cavity of the 5120? Then the other question becomes would installing a P90 in Gretsch be committing sacrilege? I understand that we all have a tone in our heads that we want to create, and that rules may be violated achieving our desired tone. But the example I make to myself is when I see a stratocaster that has humbuckers installed, I say to myself why would someone wreck a perfectly good soundi
