Are other agricultural Best Management Practices affected by the WQIA?
The WQIA principally focuses on the application of all sources of nutrients to land. The only impact on other BMPs would be if a violation of the Act resulted in repayment of cost-share or denial of future cost-share. Agricultural erosion and sediment control and animal waste storage and handling remain extremely important voluntary practices. The Conservation Reserve (Enhancement) Program, riparian buffers, treatment of highly erodible land, and other conservation programs continue to be important and voluntary. This Act does not affect any of these programs.
