Are organizational skills useful or just a contemporary decorating trend?
I think they are useful. I love the Craftsman era for style and comfort (with the exception of the couches..lmao..I don’t find THEM all that comfortable!) Part of the essence of the Craftsman era was the concept of bringing the outside IN and the inside OUT for interior living and porch enjoyment. The part of the COMFORT to be had was also that after a long, hard day you enter an uncluttered space to relax in. Art, rugs, wallpaper, pillows curtins and pottery were often in earthy colors and featured organic designs of plants, dragonflies, flowers, trees, nature in general. Furniture was in solid wood, with leather, or soft fabrics…often woven, some patterns, again organic in design or very simple. Often USEFUL things were also used as ART, the beauty of an object designed with clean, simple lines that bespoke harmony, tranquility, and a safe, relaxing sanctuary to come home to.
