Are old i9 forms kept by employers?
Employers have to hold on to employee records for a minimum of 7 years. Some just never get rid of anything. If I were her, I’d just as soon not apply to that same job. She signed the I9 under penalty of perjury, and so did her employer. She lied to her employer. I don’t know how she got away with it for so long, lucky I guess! She burned that bridge already, I don’t think her coming clean will please a company that risked so much without knowing. She should count her blessings and move on.
