Are nuns and priests allowed to get married?
It is a choice a person makes to not be married and they make that vow to God. Jesus asked for some people to do this in Matt 19:12 & in 1 Cor 7:34. Jesus said it wasn’t for everyone. It a man wanted to do some priestly duties and still be married with children, he can be a Deacon, like on Acts 6:2. There are some exceptions. Anglican pastors (Protestants) who are married and convert to Catholicism can become priests. So there are married priests. If their wife dies, however, they cannot remarry. If they change their minds later in life, with permission, they can leave the clergy. God bless…
Okay… here goes. You are referring to the Catholic church… and in this matter, we will limit it to the ROMAN Catholic church. Priests USED to be able to marry until the Pope changed it 450 years ago. HOWEVER… if a Catholic man feels the “Call” to become a priest later in his life, and AFTER he is already married, the Church will allow him to REMAIN married and become a priest. Nuns do not marry. When they take their vows, they actually wear wedding rings, because they “spiritually” become Christ’s brides. But they do not marry men. Monks DO take a vow of chastity, and remain unmarried and celibate while they are monks. Of course, if ANY of these END their “participation” as priest, nun, or monk, they are allowed to marry. MARANATHA! Come, Lord Jesus, COME!
