Are NovaRoam ED900 units and legacy NovaRoam 900 units compatible?
NovaRoam ED900 and NovaRoam 900 units are compatible when using static routes. NovaRoam ED900 features a new Mobile Ad hoc Networking (MANET) algorithm called AODV, while NovaRoam 900 used TORA. AODV and TORA are not interoperable, therefore NovaRoam ED900 and NovaRoam 900 units are not able to communicate when they are configured for mobile ad hoc networking. • Q: What is MANET? A: MANET stands for mobile ad hoc networking. Please see the MANET page for a full description. • Q: Can geographically separated NovaRoam networks be connected to each using a separate backhaul network? A: Yes. NovaRoam Clustering Technology allows separate NovaRoam networks to be connected using the backhaul of your choice. NovaRoam Clustering Technology is compatible with existing backhaul networks, including microwave, fiber, and traditional landline. • Q: Does NovaRoam Clustering Technology require a proprietary backhaul? A: No. Any traditional backhaul network (e.g. microwave wireless network, wired LAN
