Are NOHSC and ASCC standards and codes mandatory outside of workplaces?
Any National Standards, Codes of Practice and other guidance material declared by Safe Work Australia’s predecessors, NOHSC and ASCC, are not legally binding unless a law gives effect to that material. Although NOHSC and ASCC material were intended to apply only to workplaces, these documents contain useful information that could be used in non-work situations to promote and ensure safety.
