Are nintendo DS games region protected?
DS games aren’t region locked, this means that you can import any game you like and play it on your DS. However, there are some circumstances where you can’t mix up the regions: – You can’t mix up regions with some games while playing multi-player. A good example is bleach: the blade of fate, if you, for example host with a USA version and want to join with a European version you can’t see the host. These are rare occasions and most times you will be able to play multi-player with several regions. You can however use download play with DS’es from different regions – Games that have certain features that require to have a GBA game inserted in the second slot (like the pal park in pokémon diamond, pearl and platinum) are region locked. In this case you cannot mix up two regions under any circumstance – DSi games from the DSi shop cannot be mixed up. This means you cannot play Japanese DSi shop games on a American DSi.
