Are new home sales eclipsing resales?
Ryan Geddes Published: November 13, 2003 ———————————————————— Local sales of existing single-family homes grew by only 2 percent in the third quarter, but the median sales price for those homes jumped 17 percent, from $127,100 to $149,100, according to figures released Thursday by the Florida Association of Realtors. Statewide, resale activity from July through September increased by 24 percent overall, and the median home price in Florida climbed 13 percent, to $163,700. While Jacksonville saw only a slight increase in home sales this quarter, it remained the number five market in the state, with 3,757 homes sold. Part of the reason for Jacksonville’s relatively small growth over last year could be the area’s booming new home sales, said Marla Martin, spokeswoman for the Florida Association of Realtors.
