ARE NATURAL BLEMISHES A GOOD OR BAD THING?

Because our hides are top grain (versus inferior secondary cuts from the hide) some natural markings including brands, finished scratches / bites, and hump holes (narrow slits along top edge of spine common to some breeds) may OR may not be present. Typically, these markings are very subtle and are considered by most as the “signature” of fine, authentic leather. In some cases a small hole will result from the tanning process (average 1-3 inches). Most holes will be located near the edge or spine of the hide – parts typically not used when cutting the leather for upholstering.
