Are name brand tires worth the extra cost?

I have bought name brand tires and the so called nameless tires and I can tell you that a name does not mean quality. If you have read the reviews by other customers you will see that they to believe that one company can produce an excellent product and also complete garbage. “Buyer beware” In 2000 I purchased a brand new Mercury Grand Marque with the “performance package” which is suppose to make the car handle the road better. This is my third Grand Marque and I love the big car ride and room but the handling is something to be desired. My First Grand Marque (1994) was your basic cheap car and I liked it a lot. It was also a lease which really seemed to take away from the “pride of ownership” so when the lease was up I purchased my next Grand Marque (1996) with a “performance package” and a set of nice Michelin tires.
