I see no evidence of that being the case. Certainly they have a role to play, but as I think of a list of the Western world’s 10 most powerful people–President Obama, the Pope, Gordon Brown, etc.–they are all Judeo-Christian in background. And the Western world’s 10 most powerful countries are all, with the possible exception of Iran, non-Muslim.
