Are Muslims allowed to listen to music?

0

I have seen arguments both ways- – some Muslims feel it is permitted, while others feel it is not. I guess it is up to interpretation. The people who say it IS forbidden, reference a passage in the Qur’an that talks of idle words / talk being forbidden and they interpret that to be music. There are also some Hadiths that they use to justify their belief that music is “haram” (sinful). But like I said before, not all Muslims believe music is a sin. Not all Muslims accept the Hadiths and not all Muslims interpret the ‘idle’ talking to be music. So it depends on the individual Muslim.
