Are most women hanging up housework today?
Ms. Graves: Not at all. Many of the women we interviewed hire outside help. Housework is still considered women’s work, by both men and women. Ms. Pappenheim: No. Not only do women carry the major financial support in the family, they also are the principal organizers of childcare and home care. Men are not doing their share. Hopefully, the next generation will do better.
