First, I’d like to clarify that it’s only a learning disability if it inhibits learning. If you live in a society that doesn’t require a certain type of learning, it may not be a learning disability. For example, if you are in a society where there isn’t much reading going on, then you can’t have a reading disability because no one reads. It is completely relative to the culture you are in. Second, a learning disability is not just determined by how you compare to the average person in a given area, but also by how far your performance in that area is below your intelligence. For instance, if you have average intelligence, then your reading ability would have to be significantly below average for it to be identified as a disability.
