Are most Information Technology Architects more Managers or Technologists?

To be a good architect it’s often stated that you have to be a technology guru. However when asking current architects what is their most important skill they respond with the ability to communicate ideas, sell those ideas, resolve conflicts, and get others to follow their lead. To me this is more about leadership than it is about being a domain expert. Understanding that there are many different types of architects in the IT industry lets just focus in on these types; Solution Architect, Software Architect, and Enterprise Architect.
