Are most college professors teaching liberal thinking?
You see…….. that’s the problem. What you call “liberal thinking” is in fact just ‘rational thinking’. It is what has caused the founding of The United States of America. Our founding fathers were students of sorts of writers such as, Locke, Voltaire, Montesquieu and Rousseau. Men with progressive ideas, that you term as “liberal”. Men who could see beyond the “status quo”. If the world had been left to “conservatives”, we would all still be sitting around the tribal campfires thinking that a solar eclipse was a punishment from some angry God. I’m glad that college professors are intelligent enough to instruct the youth of America in a “rational” manner.
You really think that professors have that much influence over their students? If they did then why don’t half of them do their homework? More than likely, it’s probably just that people’s children move away from home for the first time and have to think for themselves without any guidance. After 9 years of college, I have not once had a teacher pontificate about their stance on politics. I’ve heard them do it in private but, usually that’s more to bemoan the fact that research funding has been gutted since 2000. The people in the military did the same thing about their funding schedule under Bill Clinton and no one was going around saying the military is training conservatives. If anything, I hear other people talk about politics more often than professors. You can get fired for offending the wrong person about their political beliefs. Maybe you have a point but, I’ve never seen it personally.
