Well when my mom joined the LDS church her mother stated that she was going to Hell and that she had joined a cult. That attitude went away after a few years when it was realized that she really hadn’t changed that much, just some of her standards had changed, ie. She didn’t drink, or smoke or even swore that much. I’ve grown up in the church, and I can tell you their is no brainwashing going on. Yea, I grew up being taught the principles of the church, and I know that you might consider that “brainwashed” but I had times when I was in college that I didn’t follow my faith as devoutly as I do now. It’s all a matter of choice, to choose to live what the church teaches or choose not to. Those who leave the LDS church have that choice as well, to stay or leave. It is a religion, it’s a bit different than some since it is a “living” faith, in other words we are expected to live a way that’s outside of how everyone else lives, such as paying tithing and keeping the Word of Wisdom, so yes th

Mormons are not brainwashed, actually sounds like she’s found something that she enjoys and would like to share with you but you’re not interested. It’s okay to not be interested but your lack of participation doesn’t mean brain washing.
