Are modern people brainier than medieval people?
If a child is given mental stimul from the very moment it is born up to about 5 months, the brain increases its potential geometrically. It is essential that newborn babies are given this stimulation, or they will not progress as well as those that do. This is proven fact. Now, given that in Medieval times, there would be very little in the way of audio or visual stimulation, I doubt if their brains would have developed so well. This is one of the most telling reasons why it is probable that we have a greater CAPACITY for intelligence. That doesn’t, however, mean that we are more intelligent. The idea about nutrition is a good one, but we have to be careful here. The diet of the average person in medieval times was FAR better than ours today!
