Are model release forms necessary from people appearing in PR material?
Answer If you operate from the general theory that all PR advertising, promotion, etc. which carry a picture/drawing/likeness of a real person require that person’s permission to use. In particular, before PR/promotional materials are created. There are sometimes exceptions for company or ad agency employees, others. Check with legal counsel before publishing anything with someone’s picture, to obtain legal Release Forms. The safe course is to get a Release from any person in an ad/PR/Promo piece, even if they can’t be readily identified.
