Are midget babies smaller than normal babies?
The term midget is considered offensive by most people of short stature. The term dates back to 1865, the height of the “freak show” era, and was generally applied only to short-statured persons who were displayed for public amusement. Dwarfism is a term applied broadly to a number of conditions resulting in unusually short stature. There are over 200 forms of dwarfism. Babies with Pirmodial dwarfismm are about half the size of an average baby at birth. achondroplasia (the most common) can be diganosed by ultrasound if a baby’s arms and legs are shorter than average or if the baby’s head is larger. Some forms can also be diganosed at birth. while others can’t be till the child is a a bit older.
