Are mentors expected to help students with personal issues?
No. Although some mentors and mentees develop great personal rapport, a mentor is not expected to be his/her mentees confidant or counselor. Mentors are expected to provide guidance to students in their educational and professional pursuits. Mentors and students are encouraged to work together to establish an appropriate professional relationship.
