Are mentally ill patients always dangerous?
No, I’m mentally ill myself, and I very much doubt that I’m dangerous : P I hate inflicting suffering on anyone / anything – I literally would not hurt a fly… To go further, ‘most’ people who are mentally ill are not dangerous at all, sometimes ‘because’ of their mental illness. ***** It is only a very small, specific group of illnesses that can make someone dangerous, like a sociopathic disorder or something.
I’m not sure how to answer, since you specify “patients”. Not all mentally ill people are patients, and certainly the majority of mentally ill people are not dangerous. Many states used to put people identified as mentally ill in large homes, or hospitals, but eventually, all the state operated hospitals were closed, and mentally ill people have been left to fend for themselves ever since.
