Are men finally feeling secure enough to express their feelings in such a manner?
GORDON-LEVITT: Maybe. There still exists and there always has and there probably always will be the man that wants to not feel anything or pretend like he doesn’t. Sometimes I envy those guys because they can get away with doing things that I don’t seem to be able to. Usually I prefer to feel things. There always have been the Romeos of the world. I think that’s a more fun guy to be. I love a good love story. I remember when I was eight years old or something and “Ghost” came out. I remember crying like, “He’s dead and they love each other.” Guys weren’t supposed to feel anything. It’s a different emotional makeup for sure. I guess girls are more prone to crying and guys are more prone to beating each other’s faces in. But in between those two ends of the spectrum are a million shades of gray. I’m proud my generation is more open-minded to not reducing the human being to whatever gender they are and being like, “Look whether I’m a boy or a girl I can cry or not.” A girl can listen to L
