Are measurements made by the Thermal & Mechanical Metrology program traceable?
Traceability is defined as the property of the result of a measurement or the value of a standard whereby it can be related to stated references, usually national or international standards, through an unbroken chain of comparisons all having stated uncertainties. (Ref. International Vocabulary of Basic and General Terms in Metrology, ISO, 1993). The National Research Council (NRC) is the agency of the Federal Government of Canada which, under the legal authority of the Weights and Measures Act and the National Research Council Act, is responsible for the establishment, maintenance, development and improvement of the National Standards of Canada.
